Consideration of Recommendation to
Dedicate the Final Plan to the late Julie Fisher.
In early 1998, Julie Fisher died suddenly.
Julie was a recreation enthusiast and the first chair
of the Coalition for the Outdoor Recreation Plan (CORP).
Many members of the Citizens Advisory Committee will
remember her active participation at the meetings in
1996 and 1997. Her enthusiasm and desire to improve
recreation opportunities in Sonoma County became
clear to all got to work with her. She asked
questions and made suggestions that helped to move
the process along. The Coalition that she helped to
form has been instrumental in raising public
consciousness about recreation issues and has
remained an active participant in the process of
completing the plan. At a memorial gathering at
Spring Lake Park following her death, it was
suggested that the Draft Plan recognize her efforts.
Staff requests that the Committee consider making a
recommendation to dedicate the Final Plan in the
Memory of Julie Fisher.
(NOTE: Everyone associated with CORP is very
pleased and moved that ORP Staff, and in particular
Planning Director Philip Sales, thought to remember and
honor our founding chair in this way. -Ed.)
